A Short History of the Career of Jason Grimsley, RHP

April 28, 1991

San Diego at Philadelphia

Pitching for the Phillies, Grimsley sets a new Major League record by

throwing a wild pitch in his 9th consecutive appearance.

July 15, 1994

White Sox manager Gene Lamont accuses Indians outfielder/world-class

sourpuss, Albert Belle, of using a corked bat. Umpire Dave Phillips

confiscates the bat and has it stored it in the umpires' dressing

air conditioning duct, drops into the umpires' dressing room, and

replaces the bat...with one of Paul Sorrento's bats. The switch is

discovered immediately after the game and Belle is served with a

suspension. Belle never even buys Grimsley a beer or room service club

sandwich for his gesture.

June 6, 2004

Boston at Kansas City

Pitching for Kansas City, Grimsley runs to cover first on a groundball

to first baseman, Ken Harvey. Trying to throw home and expecting

Grimsley to duck, Harvey throws the ball directly into/punches with

outstanding force...Grimsley's face. (Watch the Plays of the Game on

mlb.com to see this from 15 different angles.)

August 2, 2010

Mahoning Valley Scrappers at Lowell Spinners
